Canada Fast-track Student Visa Process for Indians
Residents of four countries who aspire to study in Canada will hugely benefit from a lately introduced new visa processing mechanism that is far simpler and quicker. According to the amendment, the program facilitates the processing time for study permits for 15 days lesser than it did formerly. Now, the residents of India, Vietnam, Philippines, and China can get a visa within 45 days by opting for the newly introduced Student Direct Stream (SDS) program. Of course, provided they prove that they possess the required language skills and the financial resources to academically succeed in Canada.
According to the new policy changes that are presented by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada the students who wish to enter Canada via the SDS program must initially pay the tuition fees and thereafter purchase a guaranteed investment certificate for $10,000 CAD.
The previous Student Partners Program (SPP) necessitated fewer documents for visa application from foreign students. It also restricted them in applying to only 400 odd participating colleges and universities in Canada. In contrast, the newly announced SDS is accessible for students wanting to apply to all higher educational institutions, such as colleges and universities.
These quick changes came just a few days after the announcement that the UK government has excluded Indian students from the new easier visa norms.
In the year 2017, the number of Indian students had increased their tally to 100,000 for the first time. Taking into consideration that the number of students admitted in 2017 was not calculated with the others, in the year 2018, the number could be even higher.
IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) data illustrates that approximately thirty-two thousand new students from India come to study in Canada in the year 2015. By August 2017, another fifty-three thousand had come to Canada to study. India remains one of the top contributors of students who study at Canadian universities coming second to China.
It can be clearly seen that the main reason for the surge of Indian students in Canada might be the immigration policy changes that occurred under the Trump administration. The new immigration policies fashioned in Britain under the government of Prime Minister Theresa may also have led to increasing in demand for Canadian University admissions.
